The heart of My Grassroots Are Showing focuses on my years of feminist activism and organizing, first as an out lesbian and then as a bisexual. This memoir illustrates how the grassroots bisexual social change movement coalesced and mobilized in the closing decades of the 20th century. As one of the primary strategic political architects of the contemporary bisexual movement, my activist adventures recount how bisexuals organized their way into what is now commonly referred to as the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender movement. In addition, this book traces my HIV/AIDS work and the creation and adventures of the Safer Sex Sluts, an educational, mixed gender and sexual identity performance troupe. Light will be shed on the history of bisexual activism in the early years of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
